Chandigarh, September 7, 2025: On the occasion of Bhadrapada Purnima, the second and final lunar eclipse of 2025 will occur tonight. This will be a Total Lunar Eclipse, visible in India and many other parts of the world, making it significant both scientifically and religiously. The total duration of the eclipse will be 3 hours and 28 minutes.

- Restrictions: Worship, cooking, eating, sleeping, and other auspicious activities are avoided during Sutak. Exceptions are made for children, the elderly, pregnant women, and the sick.
Visibility of the Eclipse
The lunar eclipse will be visible in India, most parts of Asia, Australia, East Africa, and Europe. It will not be visible in North and South America.
Rituals and Precautions
- After the eclipse ends, scriptures advise cleaning the house and place of worship, taking a bath, wearing clean clothes, and then performing puja.
- Food and water items protected with Tulsi leaves before the eclipse should be consumed only after removing the leaves, as Tulsi is believed to neutralize negative effects.
