Chandigarh, September 7, 2025: Amid the ongoing flood crisis in Punjab, which has destroyed crops over four lakh acres and damaged thousands of houses, the state government is preparing to introduce a new mining policy.
Addressing a press conference today, AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia announced that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, will unveil the new mining policy within the next two to three days.
“Due to floods, a huge quantity of sand has been deposited in farmlands. Under the new policy, farmers will be permitted to mine sand from their land,” Sisodia stated.
The move is being seen as both a relief measure for farmers struggling with sand accumulation in fields and a policy shift aimed at regulating mining activities in the state.
