New Delhi, September 20, 2025 – The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today organised a Sarv Dharam Sammellan to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Ninth Guru of the Sikhs, remembered as Hind Di Chadar for his unparalleled sacrifice to protect religious freedom.
Head Granthi of Shri Harmandar Sahib, Amritsar, Giani Raghbir Singh, said Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s sacrifice stands unmatched in history as he laid down his life to safeguard the right to practice faith freely. “Sikhism teaches compassion, humility, patience, and acceptance of all religions,” he added. Tributes were also paid to Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dyala Ji, who attained martyrdom alongside the Guru.
DSGMC President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka inaugurated the series of commemorative events, stressing the need for unity in the Sikh community. Cabinet ministers S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Sh. Kapil Mishra, along with Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, extended their support. Mishra announced that the Delhi Government will host a three-day event at Lal Qila from November 23–25, including a temporary museum, light and sound show, and refurbished Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial.
Former Rajya Sabha MP S. Tarlochan Singh noted that the fundamental right to religious freedom in India’s Constitution draws inspiration from Guru Ji’s martyrdom. Swami Chidanand Saraswati, Acharya Lokesh Muni, Haji Syed Salman Chishti, Rabbi Ezekiel Isaac Malekar, and several interfaith leaders paid rich tributes, calling Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice a beacon of unity and humanity.
Cabinet Minister S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who acknowledged the eternal debt owed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji for safeguarding religious freedom. A message from spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was also shared at the event.
