ADC urges to speed up ration card eKYC in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, September 26, 2025: To review the progress of Aadhaar-based eKYC for ration card holders, a meeting with officers and staff of the Food & Civil Supplies Department and the CDPO office was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ferozepur, Amit Sareen.
Ration card eKYC is an Aadhaar-based process to digitally verify the identity of ration card holders, linking their Aadhaar number to their ration card for receiving Public Distribution System (PDS) benefits. It helps prevent fraud and ensures that only eligible families receive subsidized food grains by comparing the beneficiary's demographic data (name, address, photo) from Aadhaar with the PDS database. To complete eKYC, ration card members must visit their local Fair Price Shop (FPS) and undergo biometric or OTP authentication on an ePoS device.
During the meeting, the ADC instructed the concerned departments to complete the eKYC process at the earliest in the public interest. He emphasized involving Anganwadi workers to assist in the exercise and directed that their eligible incentive amounts be credited to their bank accounts promptly.
Sareen also advised that announcements be made in villages and towns to spread awareness so that maximum beneficiaries can complete their eKYC and continue to receive Public Distribution System (PDS) benefits.
The meeting was attended by DFSC Jitin Verma, District Programme Officer Richika Nanda, and other officials and staff members.
