Pb Govt reviews preparations for 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadhur across the state
Faridkot, October 11, 2025: The Punjab Government has initiated elaborate preparations to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with state-level Nagar Kirtans and religious events. A review meeting regarding the arrangements was held at the Ashoka Chakra Hall, DC Office, Faridkot, chaired by Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains, Harbhajan Singh ETO, and Tarunpreet Singh Sond, along with Advisor for Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Deepak Bali.
Giving details, Education and Information Minister Harjot Singh Bains informed that four Nagar Kirtans will be taken out from Srinagar, Faridkot, Talwandi Sabo, and Gurdaspur, covering most parts of Punjab before culminating at Sri Anandpur Sahib. He added that the events would also honour the supreme sacrifices of Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Diala. A grand congregation will be held on November 18 at Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi, Srinagar, to be attended by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and saints from across the country.
To spread the legacy of Guru Sahib’s unparalleled sacrifice, Light & Sound shows depicting the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and his companions will be organized in Faridkot and every district of Punjab. “These programs will not only inspire thousands of devotees but also serve as a reminder of our duty to pass on this legacy to the younger generations,” said Bains, urging officers to ensure arrangements with devotion and adherence to religious maryada.
Cabinet Ministers Harbhajan Singh ETO and Tarunpreet Singh Sond, along with Advisor Deepak Bali, emphasized that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom for human rights and religious freedom has no parallel in history. They appealed to people to participate in the Nagar Kirtans and events, rising above caste and creed.
Earlier, Ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Harbhajan Singh ETO were accorded a Guard of Honour on their arrival in Faridkot. MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon thanked the dignitaries, adding that it was a matter of pride for Faridkot to host one of the Nagar Kirtans and the Light & Sound show.
