Joti Foundation marks Green Diwali across 14 flood-hit border villages in Fazilka
Fazilka, October 23, 2025:
Led by founders Prabkiran Brar and Ajit Brar, Joti Foundation celebrated Diwali with families in 14 border villages of Fazilka devastated by recent floods, distributing new clothes, mithai, and eco-friendly diyas while promoting a Green Diwali rooted in sustainability, community, and hope.
The 14 adopted villages, home to over 12,000 residents, were among the worst hit, with more than 7,000 acres of farmland submerged. Since adoption, the foundation has driven a large-scale recovery effort—desilting, levelling, and cultivating damaged fields—to help farmers restore their livelihoods.
“Diwali is the triumph of light over darkness—and for these resilient families, their courage is that light,” said Ajit Brar, founder of Joti Foundation. “We are committed not just to relief but to long-term recovery—rebuilding lives, restoring land, and reviving hope, sustainably.”
“I’ve always believed festivals are lessons in gratitude. This Diwali, the greatest light we can spread is not from diyas alone, but from the kindness we share,” said chairperson Prabkiran Brar. “Watching children smile again reminds us that hope, when taught and shared, becomes the brightest flame of all.”
