Warring asks if AAP will pay four-year arrears with proposed Rs 1,000 monthly stipend for women
Chandigarh, October 23, 2025:
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday questioned whether the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government will pay arrears of the last four years along with the proposed Rs 1,000 monthly stipend for women. Citing reports that the stipend may start next year, he said women feel “cheated and deceived” as the promise remained unfulfilled throughout most of the government’s term.
Warring noted that nearly four years have passed since AAP formed the government and alleged the administration has “woken up” to its “long-forgotten promise” at the fag end of its tenure. By the time the scheme is implemented, he said, the government may have little time left.
Arguing the government is “morally bound” to pay arrears to women who voted on the basis of the pledge, Warring said that is what Punjab’s women expect. He added that if the government believes it can “again fool the people” with “peanuts” at the end of its term, it is “badly mistaken.”
