CM pushes Dhosi Hill ropeway, says Mahendragarh can be a global tourism draw
Chandigarh, October 23, 2025:
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reviewed tourism projects and directed expedited execution of the proposed ropeway at historic Dhosi Hill in Mahendragarh, setting strict timelines for all pending works. Chairing a review meeting also joined online by Tourism and Heritage Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma, he said tourism must drive local development, jobs, and cultural preservation, not just recreation.
Officials said the Dhosi Hill Ropeway Project is planned at an estimated Rs 57 crore with an alignment of about 870 meters to ease access to the hilltop and attract domestic and international visitors. The Chief Minister noted the project would raise footfall to Mahendragarh’s heritage assets, including its forts and historic sites, anchoring the district’s tourism ecosystem.
The meeting discussed redevelopment of Mahendragarh Fort, Madhogarh Fort, and a local baoli, with a proposal to develop the baoli as a “Rani Mahal” for mehndi ceremonies and cultural events. Endorsing the idea, Saini said such initiatives can boost local employment and regional tourism and suggested developing the project under a PPP model to ensure speed and quality.
Reviewing ongoing works in Pinjore and at Tikkartal in Morni, the Chief Minister directed steps to enhance aesthetics and visitor amenities, strengthen accommodation at Pinjore Gardens, and examine the feasibility of a ropeway in the Morni hills. He also took stock of the “Anubhav Kendra” in Kurukshetra and instructed that it be completed on time.
Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi; Principal Secretary to CM Arun Kumar Gupta; Additional Chief Secretary (Town and Country Planning) A.K. Singh; Additional Chief Secretary (Environment) Vineet Garg; Principal Secretary (Tourism) Kala Ramachandran; Deputy Principal Secretary to CM Yashpal Yadav; Managing Director, Tourism Development Corporation, Dr. Shalin; and other senior officials attended the meeting.
