Jalandhar, November 27, 2025: In a major and strict action concerning the murder case of a 13-year-old minor girl in Jalandhar, Punjab, Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur has dismissed ASI Mangat Ram from service. The officer was dismissed for gross negligence in the investigation and for providing false information to the victim's family. This step was taken after the investigation revealed that the ASI had lied to the grieving family during his duty, falsely claiming that their daughter was not present inside the neighbour's house, where her body was later recovered. CP Kaur personally visited the victim's family on the fourth day of the incident, assuring them that the Commissionerate Police stands with them and that no one found guilty in the investigation will be spared, even if they are a police official. Meanwhile, the accused in the heinous crime, Harminder Singh alias Happy, has been arrested and sent to 9 days of police remand. The victim's family has demanded that the case be heard in a Fast Track Court to ensure the earliest possible capital punishment for the accused.
