Chandigarh, December 24, 2025: Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday flagged off a public service run organised by trainees of Batch No. 93 of the Haryana Police at Yavanika Park in Sector 5, Panchkula.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the run was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and symbolised unity, discipline and the spirit of national service.
He informed that later in the evening, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah will administer the oath to the largest police passing-out batch in the history of the Indian Police.
The historic batch comprises 5,061 personnel, including 4,191 men and 870 women. With women accounting for 20.75 percent of the total strength, the batch marks a significant milestone in advancing women’s empowerment in the police force.
Target to Raise Women’s Participation to 25 Percent
The Chief Minister said women’s participation in the Haryana Police was merely 3 percent in 2014, which has now risen to over 10 percent. The state government has set an ambitious target of increasing this representation to 25 percent in the coming years.
Highlighting the role of Haryana Police in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse, Sh Nayab Singh Saini said the newly trained personnel will act as brand ambassadors for the anti-drug drive, helping to spread awareness and strengthen the collective resolve of society against narcotics.
He said the run marked the completion of 39 weeks of rigorous training and symbolised the transition from training to the practical application of policing values and the ‘Karma Yogi’ philosophy. Of the participants, 4,252 recruits hail from rural backgrounds while 809 are from urban areas, reflecting social unity and harmony across the state.
The Chief Minister further noted that nearly 85 percent of the batch comprises graduates and postgraduates, with over 50 percent—2,390 recruits—being under the age of 26. He said this youthful and educated workforce would bring fresh energy, a modern outlook and greater efficiency to the Haryana Police.
Describing the run as more than a physical exercise, Sh Nayab Singh Saini said it reflected the self-confidence, discipline and resilience developed through yoga, physical training and self-defence. He also lauded the recruits for their sense of social responsibility, noting that they voluntarily donated 1,356 units of blood on April 9, 2025.
Kalka MLA Smt. Shakti Rani Sharma, former Assembly Speaker Sh Gian Chand Gupta, District President Sh Ajay Mittal, Director General of Police Sh O.P. Singh, Director of Haryana Police Academy Madhuban Dr. A.S. Chawla, Deputy Commissioner Sh Satpal Sharma, Inspector General of Police Sh Pankaj Nain, BJP State Vice President Smt.
