Two children missing in Chandigarh’s Raipur Khurd; CCTV leads emerge
Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, December 24, 2025: Two children who were playing outside their house in the Raipur Khurd area of Chandigarh have gone missing under mysterious circumstances. More than 24 hours have passed since they were last seen, but there has been no trace of the children so far, nor has the family received any ransom call.
Taking the matter seriously, Chandigarh Police have constituted three special teams with immediate effect. Information has also been shared with police units in neighbouring districts, including Punjab, to expedite the search and ensure the children are traced at the earliest.
CCTV Footage Provides Last Clue
During the investigation, police accessed CCTV footage believed to show the children’s last known location. In the footage, both children are seen walking together with their arms around each other’s shoulders. The missing children have been identified as 8-year-old Ishant and 12-year-old Ayush. Their family earns a living through daily wage labour. One child studies in Class III, while the other is not enrolled in school.
Mauli Jagran Police Station SHO Hari Om Sharma said that search operations were launched immediately after receiving the complaint. Police teams conducted overnight searches at key locations including the bus stand, railway station and airport. When no leads emerged, hospitals, religious places, old buildings and vacant houses were also thoroughly checked. One police team continues to remain deployed on the ground.
Search Extended to Religious Places and Langars
Police have made public announcements in nearby villages to alert residents. Officials said that several religious gatherings and langars are currently being organised across the city, raising the possibility that the children may have eaten at a langar and stayed there overnight.
