Chandigarh, December 26, 2025: Panic and commotion prevailed at the District Court Complex in Sector 43, Chandigarh, on Thursday after police received an email threatening to blow up the court with a bomb. Acting swiftly, Chandigarh Police and other security agencies swung into action and placed the entire complex on high alert.
As a precautionary measure, all three buildings of the district court were immediately evacuated, and the area was cordoned off. The police, along with bomb disposal and security squads, conducted an extensive search of the court premises.
After several hours of thorough checking, no bomb or suspicious object was found inside the court complex, providing relief to lawyers, staff and visitors.
According to police officials, a series of such threatening emails have been received in recent times. Earlier, several prominent schools in Chandigarh had also received bomb threat emails, which later turned out to be hoaxes after investigation.
Taking the matter seriously, Chandigarh Police have registered a case against unknown persons. The Cyber Cell has been roped in to trace the email ID and identify those behind the threat.
