Uttarakhand Governor unveils Harpreet Sandhu’s literary pictorial work on Veer Bal Diwas 2025

Dehradun (West Bengal), December 28, 2025: Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, today unveiled a literary pictorial brochure dedicated to Veer Bal Diwas 2025 at Lok Bhawan, Dehradun. The brochure commemorates the supreme sacrifice and martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, along with Mata Gujri Ji, mother of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The brochure, authored by State Information Commissioner, Punjab Harpreet Sandhu, highlights the sanctity and historic significance of three sacred shrines in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab:
- Gurdwara Thanda Burj, where the Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri Ji were kept in extreme cold before their martyrdom in 1705,
- Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, where the Sahibzadas were bricked alive, and
- Gurdwara Jyoti Sarup, the cremation site of the Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri Ji.
During the event, Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh was also presented with a religious heritage book, “Spiritual Journey of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib”, authored by Harpreet Sandhu. Additionally, a documentary marking the 350th Martyrdom Year of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib was screened, showcasing the journey of the Ninth Sikh Guru from birth to martyrdom, and depicting the holy shrines where he left his footprints.
The Governor praised the initiative of SIC Harpreet Sandhu, acknowledging it as a noble and visionary effort to promote historic and religious heritage, while highlighting the relevance of the sacrifices of the young Sahibzadas and Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib across diverse communities in Uttarakhand.
