“Saving Children from Tension, Stress and Drugs is the Need of the Hour” – Dr. J.S. Sandhu

Nawanshahr 24 February 2026- A highly impactful extension lecture was delivered by Dr. J.S. Sandhu at Amardeep Singh Shergill Memorial College, Mukandpur (A Guru Nanak Dev University College) on the topic “Sensitization on Mental Health and Warning Signs of Drug Addiction Among Youth.”
Dr. Sandhu, a well-known medical expert actively working in the field of mental health and drug de-addiction, addressed the teaching staff with deep concern for the rising levels of stress and substance abuse among young students. Drawing from his extensive practical experience, he shared real-life case studies and personal experiences, highlighting how early warning signs such as withdrawal, aggression, mood swings, and academic decline often go unnoticed.
He emphasized that teachers play a crucial role in identifying behavioral changes at an early stage and that timely counseling and medical support can prevent serious consequences. Stressing the importance of collective responsibility, Dr. Sandhu reaffirmed his commitment to continuing awareness and rehabilitation efforts for the betterment of society.
The program was held in the presence of Mr. Gurcharan Singh Shergill, Founder Chairman; Mr. Surinder Singh Dhindsa, Vice Chairman PTA; Mr. Manjit Singh, Principal, ASSM College; Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, Principal, Amardeep Secondary School; and Dr. Nirdosh Kaur, Coordinator of the Extension Lecture.
