Addressing the session from Australia via Zoom, Prof. Alan Bowen-James, CEO and Chief Academic Officer, GCA-UBSS stressed that it was wise to conceive AI as synthetic intelligence and human intelligence as carbon one, and understand that there are profound differences between the two.Adding that when AI becomes an integral part of the workforce, he noted that it was important to have strong governance regulatory arrangements including what is permissible and what is not, ensure that ethics are not confused with morality and thus set appropriate guidelines. “It should be ensured that one does not become lazy, and also appropriate connectivity and security in place as AI and cybersecurity go hand in hand,” he said.
Dr. Pramod Kumar, Chairperson of IDC stressed that it was paramount to demystify AI considering all the noise that surrounds it in contemporary times.
“Human Intelligence (HI) understands why people behave the way they do, AI identifies what behaviour is likely to occur.Yes, the scope of AI is expanding rapidly—from governance and markets to communication and identity formation. But the scope of HI remains foundational, because society is not just data—it is lived experience.”
Garry Malhotra, Director and President GCA-UBSS, who was present on the occasion spoke on the breakthroughs made in the field of AI and emphasized that students must acquaint themselves with the latest breakthroughs on the need to be in tune
