30-Day special drive in Ferozepur Rail Division: Five cases of misdeclared parcels detected
Ferozepur, March 2, 2026: A 30-day special inspection drive was recently conducted in the Ferozepur Division to ensure proper declaration of goods in railway parcels. The campaign was jointly carried out by the Parcel Department staff and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The main objective was to identify cases of misdeclaration of goods and take appropriate action as per railway rules.
During the drive, a total of five cases of wrongly declared goods were detected at Amritsar and Ludhiana railway stations. A fine amounting to ₹2,625 was recovered from the concerned parcel customers.
During inspection, it was found that electronic items, shawls and iron parts were being sent in place of readymade goods. Similarly, auto parts were declared as mixed goods, while shawls were found booked under the category of food items.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager/FS Manu Garg has appealed to passengers and parcel customers to ensure that the goods mentioned in the forwarding note at the time of booking are the same as those actually booked. He warned that strict action would be taken under railway rules in cases of false declaration.
The railway administration has clarified that such special drives will continue in future to maintain transparency and safety in the parcel system.
