CM Mann announces plan for International-standard Cricket Stadium in Amritsar

Chandigarh, March 16, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced plans to build an international-standard cricket stadium in Amritsar, aiming to strengthen the state’s sports infrastructure and promote Punjab as a destination for major sporting events.
Speaking while highlighting key initiatives of the Aam Aadmi Party government, the Chief Minister said the proposed stadium will be developed according to global standards to host national and international cricket matches.
Mann said the project is part of the government’s broader push to encourage sports and create better facilities for young athletes across the state. He added that improved sports infrastructure will help nurture talent and provide opportunities for youth to excel at professional levels.
The Chief Minister also noted that Punjab is actively working to host the Men's Hockey Asia Cup, with matches expected to be held in Jalandhar and Mohali, reflecting the state’s focus on expanding its sporting footprint.
