Her efforts have not only ensured a sense of security among the residents but also promoted a harmonious environment in the community.
Known for her disciplined work ethic and impactful policing, Dr. Duhan’s appointment comes as part of an administrative reshuffle. Udaipur, a city renowned for its tourism and tribal heritage, presents unique policing challenges, including child crimes, trafficking, cybercrimes, and social issues affecting vulnerable populations. Dr. Duhan is expected to address these issues with her characteristic dedication and effectiveness.
Born on November 11, 1983, in Rohtak, Haryana, Dr. Duhan initially pursued a career in medicine. She earned her MBBS and MD in Pathology, along with a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) qualification.
She worked as an Assistant Professor at BPS Medical College for Women before deciding to follow her long-standing dream of joining the Indian Police Service (IPS). After the birth of her son, she balanced family responsibilities with her preparation for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Her perseverance paid off when she cleared the exam in 2016 at the age of 33.
Since joining the Rajasthan cadre, Dr. Duhan has served in various districts and gained recognition for her no-nonsense approach to law enforcement. In Pratapgarh, she became the district’s second woman IPS officer and implemented several initiatives to enhance policing standards.
During her tenure in Kota, she introduced a helpline-based mobile application to ensure the safety of coaching students and personally engaged with them to promote mental well-being. This innovative student safety model was later adopted in other cities as well.
As Udaipur’s SP, Dr. Duhan is poised to leverage her experience and leadership skills to tackle pressing issues like child exploitation, human trafficking, and cybercrime while ensuring the safety and well-being of the region's residents.(writer can be contacted at amritbrar2012@gmail.com)
