Former Minister Lal Singh is no more

Senior Congress leader and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Lal Singh passed away on Saturday at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last in Mohali, where he had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital for some time.

A veteran of Punjab politics, Lal Singh began his political career with the Indian National Congress in the 1980s, initially working at the organisational level. Over the years, he built a strong grassroots base in the Patiala region through consistent engagement with local issues and party workers.

He first entered the Punjab Legislative Assembly in 1992 after winning from the Patiala Rural constituency, marking the beginning of a long and influential political journey. He later represented the Sanaur constituency multiple times, securing victories in 2002, 2007 and 2012, which reflected his sustained popularity and strong connect with the electorate.

Lal Singh also served as a Cabinet Minister in Punjab and was regarded as a seasoned leader with deep administrative experience.
