Sukhwinder Singh Bindra Honours Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University
Ludhiana, 29 March 2026 – Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Member (NISD) and Special Invitee/Member (NCCDR), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Government of India), honoured Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, with a Certificate of Appreciation from Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Government of India). Dr. Zora Singh had specially visited Bindra at his office.
It is noteworthy that recently, at the convocation ceremony of Desh Bhagat University, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra attended as the Chief Guest, where he distributed degrees to the students. On that occasion, the university also honoured him with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in recognition of his outstanding contributions to leadership, youth empowerment, and good governance.
On this occasion, Bindra stated that his department is always striving to keep youth away from drugs. He emphasized that his department, along with Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar, will continue working for the welfare, development, and drug-free future of the youth. He highlighted the crucial role of youth empowerment and awareness programs in preventing substance abuse.
He further stated that he and his department remain committed to the welfare of Punjab and its youth and will continue taking necessary steps to protect them from drug abuse. He stressed the importance of sports in keeping the younger generation away from drugs and mentioned that sports kits will be distributed in the near future to encourage youth participation in sports. He also added that more initiatives will be undertaken to channel the energy of young people in the right direction.
Bindra also shared that he has previously served as the State Chairperson of the Punjab Youth Development Board (Punjab Government). During his tenure, he undertook several initiatives to steer youth away from drugs and promote sports. Free sports kits were distributed among youth clubs, colleges, and universities to encourage sports participation. Additionally, support was consistently provided to athletes facing difficulties, ensuring that no obstacles hindered their sporting careers. He added that even now, his department continues to fully support athletes and address their challenges.
In conclusion, Bindra expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Cabinet Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar for their visionary leadership and efforts towards empowering the youth.
