Former Punjab Minister Lal Singh cremated with state honours; Leaders and citizens pay tribute

Patiala (Punjab), March 29, 2026: Former Punjab Minister Sarvagi S. Lal Singh (84) was laid to rest with tearful eyes and full state honours at Bir Ji’s Crematorium on Rajpura Road here today.
His funeral pyre was lit by his son and former MLA Rajinder Singh, while a contingent of Patiala Police provided a ceremonial guard of honour and fired a salute in tribute to the late leader.

On behalf of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon paid homage by laying a wreath on the body.
Floral tributes were also offered by MLAs Ajitpal Singh Kohli and Dev Mann, AAP leaders, Sanaur constituency in-charge Ranjodh Singh Hadana, as well as a host of political, religious, and social personalities.

Prominent figures, including Lok Sabha member Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi, Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia, District Planning Committee Chairman Tejinder Mehta, Swami Brahmanand Giri, and Giani Sukhdev Singh of Hindu Takht, joined the public in paying respects. Further ceremonial tributes for the late S. Lal Singh are scheduled at Bir Ji’s Crematorium on March 31 and at the historic Gurdwara Patshahi 9th Sri Moti Bagh Sahib on April 10. Residents, party leaders, and relatives gathered in large numbers to honor the contributions of the veteran leader.
