Ferozepur, April 13, 2026: Vivekananda World School (VWS) organized a vibrant event titled “Shan-e-Dastaar 2026” to mark the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi. The program featured dastar-tying competitions aimed at instilling awareness and pride among children regarding the traditional Sikh attire bestowed by the Gurus.
Children aged between 6 to 16 years from the area participated enthusiastically and displayed remarkable skill in tying beautifully styled dastars. The event reflected their deep respect for cultural values and traditions, with each participant showcasing confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of identity.
The significance of the dastar—as a symbol of pride, honour, and unique identity—was highlighted throughout the program. Esteemed judges Lakhwinder Singh Sabra and Harvinder Singh Harry (Dastar Coach) graced the occasion, encouraging the participants and guiding them on the importance of preserving this rich heritage.
At the conclusion of the competition, winners were honoured with cash prizes and mementos for their outstanding performance.
Such initiatives play a vital role in promoting cultural heritage and inspiring the younger generation to stay connected with their roots and values.
