Chandigarh, May 24, 2026: Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij on Saturday announced approval for the establishment of a new “Machhonda Sub-Division” in Ambala Cantonment to improve electricity services and provide faster grievance redressal to consumers.
The minister said all areas located across the Ambala-Delhi railway line will now come under the jurisdiction of the new Machhonda Sub-Division. He added that all formalities for opening the office have already been completed and the facility will become operational soon.
According to Vij, the new sub-division will benefit thousands of residents from Machhonda, Chandrapuri, Sundernagar, Shahpur, Shivala Mandi, Sai Ka Bagh, Gulab Mandi, Dudhla Mandi, Himmatpura, PNT Colony, Village Bara and nearby localities.
He said residents currently have to travel long distances and cross GT Road to reach Ambala Cantonment Sub-Division No. 1 at 12 Cross Road for electricity-related work. With the new office being set up in Machhonda, services related to electricity bills, complaints and other consumer issues will now be available closer to their homes.
The Energy Minister further announced that an “Electricity Complaint Center” in the Industrial Area of Ambala Cantonment is also nearing completion and will start functioning shortly.
He said the centre will provide facilities for complaint registration, billing services, grievance redressal vehicles and technical staff support. The move is expected to provide major relief to industrial units in the area, which currently fall under Sub-Division No. 2 located at 12 Cross Road.
