“Pakistan conducted genocidal mass rape of 400,000 women...”: India rips apart Pak at UN
New York [US], October 7, 2025 (ANI): India has laid bare Pakistan’s history of atrocities against women during a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) debate on Women, Peace, and Security, spotlighting the genocidal mass rape of 400,000 women during Pakistan’s 1971 Operation Searchlight.
Speaking at the session marking 25 years of UN Resolution 1325, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, condemned Pakistan’s “delusional tirade” against India and called out its hypocrisy on women’s rights and peace.
“Every year, we are fated to hear Pakistan’s delusional tirade against my country. A nation that bombed its own people and sanctioned a campaign of genocidal mass rape against 400,000 of its women citizens has no moral standing to lecture others,” Harish said. “The world sees through Pakistan’s propaganda.”
India’s strong statement came in response to remarks by Counsellor Saima Saleem from Pakistan’s UN Mission. Harish reaffirmed India’s “unblemished record” on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, emphasizing that India continues to champion the protection and empowerment of women in conflict zones.
The UNSC debate commemorated the 25th anniversary of Resolution 1325, which recognises the disproportionate and unique impact of armed conflict on women and girls and calls for their active participation in peacebuilding.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had criticised Pakistan—without naming it—during his address to the UN General Assembly, describing it as the “epicentre of global terrorism.”
India’s intervention at the UN served as both a rebuttal to Pakistan’s falsehoods and a reminder of the brutal gender-based violence that remains a dark chapter in Pakistan’s history.
