Pakistan on alert as Peshawar blast kills 9, injures policemen
Babushahi Bureau
Peshawar (Pakistan), October 3, 2025: A major terrorist attack rocked Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Thursday, claiming the lives of nine people and leaving four policemen critically injured.
According to officials, the explosion targeted a police vehicle, indicating that it was a planned terror strike. Capital City Police Officer Mian Saeed confirmed that the attackers deliberately aimed at security personnel.
How the blast occurred:
Preliminary investigations suggest that an explosive device was planted along the police van’s route. As the vehicle passed, it triggered a powerful explosion.
Injuries and response:
Four police officials sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine whether the device was a remote-controlled bomb or an improvised explosive device (IED).
Rising terror incidents in Pakistan:
The blast adds to the recent surge in terrorist activities across Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On September 30, a deadly attack in Quetta near the Frontier Corps headquarters killed at least 10 people and injured 32. In response, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti confirmed that security forces had neutralized four attackers and launched a special anti-terror operation.
The back-to-back attacks have heightened concerns over Pakistan’s deteriorating security situation, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle terror networks operating in the region.
