Gurdaspur/Chandigarh, October 24, 2025: A new twist has emerged in the California truck accident case involving 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh, accused of killing three people while allegedly driving under the influence of drugs. While US authorities have charged him with DUI (Driving Under the Influence), his family and entire village in Punjab have come out in his defense, calling the allegations “false and fabricated.”
Residents of Purana Shala village in Gurdaspur gathered at the local Gurdwara Sahib on Friday, asserting that Jashanpreet is being “falsely implicated” in the case.
“He Never Even Looked at Drugs,” Says Family
Speaking to the media, Jashanpreet’s father, Ravinder Singh, said his son cannot be involved in any form of substance abuse.
“He is an Amritdhari Gursikh and has followed Sikh principles since childhood. He never consumed drugs—he has not even looked at them. These allegations are completely baseless,” the family claimed.
“We Mourn the Loss, But Our Son Is Innocent”
Expressing grief over the tragic loss of three lives in the crash, the family and villagers said they are praying for the victims’ souls but insisted that Jashanpreet is not at fault.
“It was an unfortunate accident that could happen to anyone. Linking it to drug use is wrong. He is being unfairly defamed,” they said.
Demand for Probe by Indian Government
The villagers have appealed to the Government of India to intervene and ensure a fair investigation into the case. They urged Indian authorities to coordinate with the US government and California Police for a transparent inquiry.
CDL Licensing Under Scrutiny After Crash
The California accident, which left three dead and four injured, has sparked a broader debate in the US over how Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL) are issued. A total of eight vehicles were damaged in the incident.
