Ottawa, July 21, 2026: Canadian exports to Pakistan increased by 65% last year, bringing trade in goods between our two countries to 1.2 billion dollars. This growth gives us a solid foundation to increase investments, open new markets, and create more opportunities for businesses. This has been stated by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

We have welcomed the progress made in negotiations toward an Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Foreign Investments between Canada and Pakistan, signed a new protocol aimed at enabling even more Canadian canola seed exports to Pakistan, and agreed to encourage more investments, particularly in the clean energy sector. A concrete example of this cooperation is the 240 MW Dhabeji hybrid wind-solar project by the Canadian company JCM Power, which will soon begin its development in partnership with Karachi Electric.
