US: Punjab man sentenced to death for killing 4 family members
Frejno (Californians), May 15, 2024: A three-judge panel has sentenced Gurpreet Singh (41) to death who was found guilty of killing four members of the family in 2019.
The three-judge panel of the Butler County court in the state of Ohio convicted for aggravated murder of four family members on the evening of April 28, 2019, at the Lakefront at West Chester apartment complex on Wyndtree Drive.
In 2019, Gurpreet Singh, a truck driver in Wisconsin, Ohio, was sentenced to death for killing his wife Shalinder Kaur, sister-in-law Haqiq Singh Panag, mother-in-law Pramjit Kaur Panag, wife's aunt Amarjit Kaur in their apartment.
Gurpreet Singh is the resident of village Manupur Goslan near Khanna. He was living with his wife and children at his in-laws house. He and Shalinderjit have three children.
Prosecutor Mike Gamoser said that Gurpreet Singh was having an affair with another woman in the Indian police, which led to a fight at home.
"Gurpreet committed this heinous crime to clear his path under a conspiracy. Gurpreet has maintained his innocence throughout the trial, but all the evidence points to Gurpreet Singh being present at the scene of the murder in his apartment at the time of the murder," said Mike Gamoser.
The public prosecutor said that if the accused had admitted his wrongdoing, he would have been sentenced to life imprisonment, but now the evidence has proved him guilty and the punishment is death. As 121 convicts await their turn to die by lethal injection in the state of Ohio, Gurpreet Singh is the next person to be sentenced on death row.
