USA: State of Utah passes a joint bill recognizing Sri Guru Grant Sahib as living & Eternal Guru
While Sri Guru Granth sahib ji is being desecrated in India, foreign countries are giving respect and recognition as living & eternal Guru: World Sikh Parliament
Washington, February 2, 2023: The state of Utah shown its love and support for the Sikh Nation today by passing a joint resolution in the State Senate and House of Representatives recognizing Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji as Living and Eternal Guru, History and significant contributions of Sikh community.
Representative Angela Romero and State senator Escamilla Luz sponsored and presented this Bill (H.J.R. 4) honoring and supporting the Sikh community for their history and significant contributions, which was unanimously passed. The Bill referred to the history of Sikh Religion from the founding by Guru Nanak Sahib in 15th Century in Punjab to the 10th Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib establishing “Guru Granth Sahib” as Living and Eternal Guru of the Sikhs. The Bill also recognized among other things the contribution of more than one Million Sikh Living in the United States and the service to the Humanity by Sikh institutions, Gurdwara Sahibs and Guru ka Langar. The Sikh community’s contribution for the service for humanity by providing millions of meals, during the Covid pandemic was also recognized. It is worth noting that State of Utah recently recognized Guru Nanak Sahib's Prakash Purab as World Equality Day.
For this special occasion along with elected officials of State Senate and House of Representatives the Managing Committee Member of both Gurdwara Sahibs of Utah also including Harjinder Singh and other dignitaries were present at this event.
This bill was put forward with the collaborative efforts of Religious, Education, Media Councils of the World Sikh Parliament, Sikh Co-ordination committee USA, American Gurdwara Parbandhak committee.Coordinator of World Sikh Parliament Himmat Singh and Secretary Harman Kaur contributed immensely in making this whole program successful.
Himmat Singh praised the efforts of the Utah Sikh leaders for working with State Legislature to get these bills passed in the state recognizing the Sikh Nation. Bibi Harman Kaur thanked the entire Sikh community and Leadership of Utah and especially Harjinder Singh for this great initiative and tireless work for the community.
Speaker of the World Sikh Parliament Joga Singh congratulated the Sikhs of America for achieving these recognitions and applauded the Sikh activists.
Dr. Pritpal Singh and Jaswant Singh Hothi of the American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee appreciated the efforts of the World Sikh Parliament and assured that for any issues pertaining to the Sikh Nation we are always here for any contribution or cooperation.
Harjinder Singh of Sikh Coordination committee said that I am very happy with the achievements of the diaspora Sikhs and working together we can get things done for our next generations thoughout the world.

At this special event Dr. Tejpartap Singh, Darbaar Singh,Gajjan Singh, Amrik Singh, Lal Singh, Ajit Singh, Jagmohan Singh, Manjit Singh, Jarmanjit Singh, Balwinder Singh were also present among others. Harminder Singh, IP Singh and Baljit Singh came from New York for this special occasion.
