USA: Sikh Panchayat's landslide victory in Fremont Gurdwara Sahib elections
Fremont (USA), March 14, 2023:
The Sikh Panchayat has won the elections of Fremont Gurdwara Sahib in a landslide victory with 65% of the votes, increasing on the 55% votes polled last year. The Sikh Panchayat got 2825 votes and the opposition Sikh Sangat Bearia got 1499 votes. The winning candidates are Rajinder Singh Raja, Jaspreet Singh Atwal, Harpreet Singh Bains, Bibi Surinderjit Kaur and Jaswant Singh.
Election to manage Gurdwara Sahib Fremont, known as the center of Sikh politics in America are being held after every two years. And the eyes of all the Sikhs of the world are on this election. This Gurdwara is also known as the center of the Khalistan struggle.
The Sikh Panchayat which came into existence in 2011 by bringing together all the opposing factions when the opposition of these factions was at its peak. Sikh Panchayat and the main leaders in it are Jaswinder Singh Jandi, Kashmir Singh, Ram Singh Dr. Pritpal Singh, Baljit Singh and HP Singh.
The congregation also passed two amendments of the bylaws overwhelming with 95% approval rate. First one is that the Gurdwara's money cannot be used in court cases and the second every candidate would pay $2000 to run for elections.
Meantime, American Sikh and founder of Khalsa today, who is know for his strong oppostion to Gurpatwant Singh's pro-Khalistani actions, has congratulated the Sikh Panchayat for the victory in Gurdwara polls.
