Canada: Indian origin woman Anita Anand appointed new Transport Minister
Ottwa, September 20, 2024: Indian origin MP Anita Anand has been appointed as new Transport Minister of Canada by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. She will replace Pablo Rodriguez who has decided to leave his ministerial role to pursue leadership of the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP). Rodriguez department is a big setback for Trudeau government and liberal party in Quebec. To fill this gap, Minister of Procurement Jean Yves Duclos will assume the role of Quebec lieutenant.
Anand’s swearing-in ceremony took place at Rideau Hall on Thursday afternoon.
