Pumpkart CEO
Chandigarh, December 06, 2016: Though the entire country mourns the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha’s death, the shock has been greater for a City Start Up. A year ago when Pumpkart.com which was praised by Google CEO Sundar Pichai for its unique online model of selling pumps, in front of PM at Digital India Meet, at almost the same time vernacular Tamil Nadu dailies published a story as to how the start-up had come to be the State’s largest retailer of water pumps. Jaya took notice of this news & personally congratulated K S Bhatia, Founder & CEO, Pumpkart.com. “She was the only leader from a political party who not only congratulated me but also offered me free space to cater to the state’s farmers & usher in an organised market in the hitherto unorganized sector. Her idea was to bring all 500 manufacturers of water pumps online through our platform & a lot of focus was there on the city of Coimbatore.” Said K S Bhatia.
The Pumpkart.com CEO rued the fact that his parent states of Chandigarh (UT) where the company has its corporate office & Punjab where the company is quite active, have not even once offered any type of help or a proposal for the betterment of Chandigarh & Punjab in relation to use of water Pumps though Punjab is an agrarian economy. “This shows how concerned Jayalalitha was for the development of her State in her 3 decades of being at the helm of affairs in the State of Tamil Nadu.”
