Trident Group gets 2nd Astitva Award for women empowerment
Ludhiana, March 27, 2017: (By Raju William) PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has awarded the prestigious 2nd Astitva Award to Trident Group for taking trailblazing measures for the women empowerment.
The prestigious award was conferred on the company at a glittering ceremony organized at PHD House in New Delhi recently.
The award is a recognition of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are inspired by the opportunity to contribute to a more secure and sustainable future.
It is also an acknowledgement of the Trident Group’s belief that the corporate strategy which embraces social development as an integral part of the business activities ensure long term sustainability of business enterprises.
Operating from its headquarter at Barnala town in Punjab, the Company reiterated its commitment to make substantial improvements in the social framework of the nearby community. Looking at the social problems which the country faces today, the contribution by any corporate may look tiny but may be worthy of a big change by way of its inspirational drive.
“Women Empowerment is one of our most integral focus points in CSR - beginning with the launch of our forum for women empowerment - ASMITA - on 3rd October’2008. This forum gives all women of Trident an inspirational platform to learn, develop, and grow - both personally and professionally,” said an official note released by the company.
Several initiatives for women empowerment have been introduced and sustained under Asmita for internal; and now expanded to external women. Some of these initiatives are listed below:
1) Sole Female Earner Initiative-for women who are the sole support for their families supported with additional bonus and paid leaves - ~100 women
2) Shagun Scheme-for additional financial support for marriage of female members of Trident family - ~120 women
3) Hastakala-enhancing earning ability of women through handicraft products - ~250 women
4) Medical Camp-in tie up with Christian Medical College and Hospital for free consultations, free medical tests, and free medicines, and free eye surgeries - ~55,000 women and men from Barnala and surrounding rural areas
5) Notebook Distribution-for education promotion in more than 58,000 Private, Aided, and Government School students.
6) Nav Chetna-Drug De-addiction Program started by Trident Group in collaboration with where workshops are conducted for people who are willing to quit tobacco, alcohol or other drugs in which they are given meditation lessons, counseling sessions and health tips and even admission to the government designated Drug De-Addiction Centers for complete freedom from drugs.
7) Trident Partnering with Swasti for the ‘Women in Factories’ Program-a social change initiative on health, hygiene and empowerment of women workers at Trident factories in association with NGO.
