New Delhi, March 22, 2017: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has said the ministry of Navjot Sidhu may be changed if he insists on continuing his television assignment, reported NDTV News Channel on Wednesday.
Commenting on the issue, the Chief Minister told reporters here that he has sought legal opinion on this from the state’s advocate general Atul Nanda.Sidhu was picked as the state cabinet minister and was given the portfolio of Local Bodies and Culture Departments last week.
The debate kicked off as he made it clear that he would carry on his TV assignment along with ministerial responsibility.
"If it is possible we have no objection... why will we? In this case we will have to do only one thing. Since he is also Minister of Culture, we have may have to change his portfolio there," NDTV report quoted CM Amarinder as saying.
On his part, Sidhu argued that there was nothing wrong in continuing his association with popular Kapil Sharma’s comedy show on the national TV channel.
"Should I run a bus service like Sukbir Singh Badal? Or indulge in corruption? If I work four days a month, 7 pm to 6 am, why are people getting a stomach ache?" he was quoted as saying in the report.
