Ludhiana, July 8, 2020: Police has arrested four members of bikers gang involved in about dozen cases of sensational robberies in Ludhiana in last one year. The gang carried out various incidents of cash and gold robberies in an organized way. This gang used to remain silent for a while after committing an incident and then proceed on to carry out other incident in the same manner. The gang members used to hide their face with helmets even while committing the crime and always use to wear gloves so that their fingerprints are not left at the scene of crimes. Nabbing them was a major challenge for the Ludhiana Police.
CP Ludhiana Rakesh Agrawal told that the CCTV footage and other evidences were collected during the investigation of all these incidents and Special Investigation Team was made under DCP Detective Simratpal Singh Dhindsa, ADCP Investigation Harish Kumar Dayama and ACP Waryam Singh to crack the cases and nab this hardcore & organized gang.
As a result of their hard work a joint police party of CIA Ludhiana and Police Station Division No.2 Ludhiana got information that Sanjiv Chopra @ Shera, Sunny Kumar @ Sunny, Amandeep Singh @ Bhau, Gudu Jaiswal and Mukesh Kumar @ Babbu have formed a Looting Gang and they all of them are again planning a robbery near Quality Chowk Kidwai Nagar Ludhiana.
Police party immediately raided the place and arrested three accused Sunny Kumar @ Sunny s/o Vinod Kumar r/o Charan Colony near Rajinder Di Chakki, village Manakwal, aged 35 years, Amandeep Singh @ Bhau s/o Harbhajan Singh r/o Street No.1, near Gill Station, village Manakwal, Ludhiana, aged 33 years, Mukesh Kumar @ Babbu s/o Ram Kumar r/o Street No.2, Preet Nagar, near Barnala Fatak, Sangrur, aged 32 years. Ring leader of the gang Sanjeev Chopra s/o Nanak Chand Chopra r/o H.No.101,Nimwala Chowk, Shahpur Road, Ludhiana, aged 38 years and another accused Guddu Jaiswal s/o Sarda Parshad Jaiswal r/o Lukhnow, U.P Presently residing at H.No.07, Block E-77U, Railway Colony No.4, Ludhiana managed to escape from the spot. Arrested accused were produced in the Hon'ble Court and 5 days police remand was taken.
Lateran today police also arrested the gang leader Sanjiv Chopra @ Shera along with one Pistol .32 Bore and two alive Cartridges.
During interrogation it was revealed that accused Sanjeev Chopra has been convicted for 10 years imprisonment in a murder and Dacoity case in 2005 in case FIR No.194 dated 13-10-2005 u/s 460 IPC registered at Police Station Sadar Ludhiana and he later on jumped the Parole in year 2014 and has been absconding since then. He has another FIR No.371 dated 05-09-2019 u/s 25-54-59 Arms Act, PS Mohindra Park, New Delhi against him.
Police has recovered three pistols, One Iron Dragger, Two Swords, One Iron Pipe, Three Helmets, Rs. 40,000/- Cash and Five Motorcycles & Activa vehicles from the gang.
Sanjeev Chopra is the Main Leader of the Gang and the gang used to do recce of the targets and the gang used to share information about the location and route plan of the incident before each incident. All of them used to gather near lonely place near Railway Quarters Ludhiana and then they used to change their clothes and wear Cap, Track Suits, Gloves etc. to conceal their identity. After carrying out the incident, they used to came at the same place and distribute the share of the booty amongst the teammates.
The gang has confessed their involvement in 11 sensational robberies in Ludhiana.
1. In September, 2018, accused snatched 4 lacs from the distributer of Britannia Biscuits in his office Nirmal Nagar, Dugri, Ludhiana and case FIR No.203 dated 11-09-2018 u/s 392-34 IPC, 25-54-59 Arms Act, PS Dugri, Ludhiana was registered.
2. In February, 2019, accused tried to snatch cash from Jewelers Shop namely Carangid All & Sons near Post Office Mundie Kaplan, Ludhiana. They also fired and case FIR No.40 dated 22-02-2019 u/s 393-336 IPC, 25-54-59 Arms Act, PS Jamalpur, Ludhiana was registered.
3. In November, 2019, accused snatched cash Rs. 7 Lacs on Pistol point from the office of Krishna Steel Rolling Mills, Gazi Complex, Gill Road, Ludhiana and case FIR No.277 dated 08-11-2019 u/s 454-380-34 IPC, 25-54-59 Arms Act, PS Division No.6, Ludhiana was registered.
4. In December, 2019, accused snatched a bag on Pistol point from the owner of Dazy Fashion, Mali Ganj Chowk Road, Ludhiana and case FIR No.162 dated 16-12-2019 u/s 379B-336-34 IPC, 25-27-54-59 Arms Act, PS Division No.4, Ludhiana was registered.
5. In December, 2019, accused snatched Rs. 80,000/- on Pistol point from the owner of a Yarn office, Street No.1, Kuldeep Nagar, near Shiv Mandir, Ludhiana and case FIR No.139 dated 31-12-2019 u/s 392 IPC, PS Daresi, Ludhiana was registered.
6. In January, 2020, accused snatched Rs.1.5 Lacs and 10 Tola Gold Chain on Pistol point from the office of Avtar Gas Agency, Street No.6, Beantpura, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana and case FIR No.19 dated 15-01-2020 u/s 392-34 IPC, 2527-54-59 Arms Act, PS Moti Nagar, Ludhiana was registered.
7. In January, 2020, accused snatched Rs.9 Lacs on Pistol point from the office of Scrap Dealer, plot No.300, Ind. Area-A, Ludhiana and case FIR No.15 dated 18-01-2020 u/s 379B-34 IPC, 25-27-54-59 Arms Act, PS Division No.2, Ludhiana was registered.
8. In February, 2020, accused snatched 200 Gram Gold from a house No.44, Street No.06, Shivpuri, Ludhiana and case FIR No.14 dated 14-02-2020 u/s 392 IPC, PS Daresi, Ludhiana was registered.
9. In June, 2020, accused snatched Rs. 7 Lacs on Pistol point from the office of A.S Alloys, in front of Dharam Kanda Street Muradpura, Ludhiana and case FIR No.156 dated 12-06-2020 u/s 451-379B-34 IPC, 25-54-59 Arms Act, PS Division No.6, Ludhiana was registered.
10. Sanjeev Chopra jumped Parole on 21-07-2014, in case FIR No.194 dated 13-10-2005 u/s 458-459-460 IPC, PS Sadar, Ludhiana and since his parole he was at large.
11. This case was registered on the secret information that accused were planning a Dacoity and case FIR No.164 dated 03-07-2020 u/s 399-402-473 IPC, 25-54-59 Arms Act, PS Division No.02, Ludhiana has been registered.
Further investigation is being carried out and more revelations from the accused are expected.
