Father-Son among four arrested by Police
Jalandhar, July 19, 2020: The Commissionerate Police on Sunday cracked the murder case of Shiv Nagar resident who was out on parole, after arresting four accused including a father-son duo, involved in this case.
The accused have been identified as Dharminder (30), his father Opinder (50), Rajesh (25) of Sheetal Nagar, Suraj Dass (20) of Janki Nagar. The Police have seized a tempo (PB08-CH-5737) used in this crime for dumping the body.
Two accused including a minor accused are absconding in this case.
The body of deceased Munish Kumar of Shiv Nagar, in his 30s, was found wrapped in blankets at the abandoned place in New Jawala Nagar, Nandanapur road on July 17. The body had sharp injuries on the throat and head. A case was registered against unidentified persons under sections 302 of IPC in Police Station-1 on July 18.
Disclosing further information, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Munish was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a man to whom's wife he had affair, in February 2015 and was out on parole at present.
Mr Bhullar said that following the recovery of the body, a team led by ADCP-1 Ms Vatsala Gupta, ACP Mr Sukhjinder Singh and SHO Mr Rajesh Kumar carried out a detailed probe in this case and arrested four accused in this case
The Commissioner of Police said prime accused Dharminder told police that he along with his father Opinder were in the business of selling ginger in the local vegetable market and said Munish used to give threats for extorting money from them.
“On July 17, Munish phoned me and asked to arrange the money otherwise he would kill me. Later, I along with accomplices Rajesh, Suraj, Balbir, minor and his father called him in the rented Godown near the vegetable market in Nagra and later murdered him with a sharp-edged weapon. After dumping the body in New Jawala Nagar, they went to Phagwara”, Dharminder told police in this preliminary interrogation.
Mr Bhullar said that Suraj Dass was a tempo drive and Rajesh was also selling Ginger in the market.He said that two accused including Balbir and a minor would be arrested soon as teams are on chase.
The Commissioner of Police said that the accused would be produced in the local courts and would be taken on remand to quiz them further and recover the weapon used in the crime.
