BJP hails Centre's invitation to farmers for talks
Chandigarh, November 10, 2020: Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma has welcomed the decision of Union Agriculture Minister NS Tomar and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal to hold talks with the Punjab farmers' union leaders to discuss the farmers' bills and resumption of railway services in Punjab.
Leaders of seven farmers' union have been invited for talks in Delhi on November 13. In a communication to the farmers' leaders, Union Agriculture Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey has said that both the Union Ministers would be present to hold talks with them.
Ashwani Sharma hoped that the talks with farmers' leaders would break the stalemate in rail services so that goods could come to the state even as people could commute easily during the festive season.
The BJP, he said, always favoured that the matter be resolved amicably with discussions on the table so that the normal life was not disrupted.
