Chandigarh, March 28, 2024:
Pawan Bansal, former MP and senior Congress leader from Chandigarh, has raised questions on BJP's performance regarding the distress caused by staff shortages at PGI. He said that PGIMER still remains a hope for the people of North India. While they come here with hopes for better healthcare, this prestigious institution of the country has also been troubled in the last 10 years. Staff is retiring from PGIMER, but new recruitments are not happening.
"To provide good health facilities in any hospital, there is a need for nursing staff along with doctors. But neither the recruitment of Chief Nursing Officers is happening here, nor the recruitment of other nursing staff. As a result, there are only 7 nursing staff for 250-300 patients. These conditions are worrying because this increases the workload on existing staff to such an extent that they also become stressed. In recent days, cases of suicide by staff have also come to light at PGIMER. What is the BJP government doing? Why is an institution like PGIMER being neglected?"
Pawan Bansal said that PGIMER was the contribution of the Congress government, and during the Congress tenure, PGIMER had achieved its position, but BJP did not handle it either. Along with this, Pawan Bansal also promised that if Congress comes to power, it will also address the staff shortages at PGIMER and restore its honor, just like Chandigarh.
