Deputy Commissioner Dr. Basant Garg launches App
Bathinda, July 26: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Basant Garg today unveiled the first of its own kind 'Suggest a Tree Spot' app developed by Bathinda Forest Division in order to expand the ambit of area under trees in the district.
While launching this app accompanied by Divisional Forest Officer Sanjeev Tiwari, SDM Bathinda Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, the Deputy Commissioner said that this initiative will provide a platform to general masses to give a fillip to plantation drive. He said that this GPS enabled app would send the information to DFO office for further action. He informed that Forest Department had fully geared up for intensifying the drive in the district through this app. He said that using this app anyone in the district can choose an area for plantation and got free saplings from Department.
Giving details of app, Dr. Garg informed that the department had chalked out an exclusive plan to cater the need of public seeking plantation in Parks, Schools, Public Places, in the premises of government institutions. "A control room has been setup by the department, where they will receive the uploaded details. After getting details, phone calls to be made to person concerned for verification. After this process, required sapling to be planted on the desired spots" he added.
Deputy Commissioner also urged the people to take full advantage of this app by promoting ongoing plantation drive.

Divisional Forest Officer Sanjeev Tiwari divulging details of plantation drive said that department had fixed a target of planting 1.5 lakh sapling in the district out of which more than 20000 were planted. He said that besides this app, a website www.suggestatreespot.com was also created. Sanjeev Tiwari said that people could also suggest location or sites for plantation through this website on a single click by filling a simple form and start uploading tree spot suggestions.
Answering a query regarding app, Sanjeev Tiwari said that once the app was successfully installed, users will need to create one time login by filling a simple form. He said that once logged in, the user could start using the app and to send a suggestion user had to spot where they feel that a tree can be planted and click the camera icon to capture the picture. He said that the app would then automatically upload the picture and location of the spot using GPS and will be sent to DFO Office.
