Ferozepur, December 7, 2016: The work in government laboratories in all the Civil Hospitals and in more than 200 Central Health Centres/Primary Health Centres in the state has come to standstill as about 1200 Lab. Technicians are on strike since December 2, 2016 except emergency services.
Manoj Grover, Secretary, Punjab State Lab Technicians, Ferozepur Unit said, the staff is protesting against the non-fulfillment of their long pending demands including pay parity, increase in the promotion channel, starting of diet allowance and patient care allowance.
However, only emergency cases are being handled by the lab staff during the striking period, he added.
He further said, the union had already requested the government number of times but without any fruitful result.
The technicians are demanding the diet allowance on the pattern of nursing staff as lab technicians also come in contact with patients suffering from deadly diseases. Similarly, they are also demanding patient care allowance on the lines as being given to medical lab technicians working under the Central Government.
A rally was also organized today to register their protest which was addressed by Kulwant Singh, President, Ajay Kakkar, Daljit Rai Kalia, A.U.Begu when number of lab technicians wer present.
