Fatehgarh Sahib, January 08, 2017: 9713 new enrolled voters in all the three constituencies Fatehgarh Sahib, Amloh and Bassi Pathana will cast their vote for the first time in the coming Assembly elections. In Fatehgarh Sahib 3243, Amloh 3513 and in Bassi Pathana 2957 new voters will cast their vote, said Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer. He said there are 424576 voters in all these three Assembly constituencies out of these 224788 are Male voters and 199792 are Female voters.
He said majority of the voters are young as between the age of 20to29 years there are 103017 voters, 30 to 39 yrs 105337, 40 to 49 yrs 81906, 50 to 59 yrs 61748, 60 to 69 yrs 36760, 70 to 79 yrs 19897 and 6198 voters are above 80 years.
He said that in all the three Assembly constituencies 523 polling Stations have been set up and it has been ensured that the voters may not have to cover a long distance to cast vote. He said for disabled voters special wheel chairs have been arranged. He said rigorous campaign was launched to educate the voters to make their votes and to cast it at any cost without any pressure, fear, lust, greed and influence. He said that special awareness van fitted with Audio Video devices are visiting all the three Assembly constituencies to spread the message of election commission of India to every nook and corner to cast their vote.
He said that during 2012 polling 81.89 % votes were polled, whereas during 2014 election polling was 73.52%. He said now efforts are being made for 100% polling.
