Chandigarh, January 12, 2017: The Bhartiya Janta Party today announced the name of Sardar Rajinder Mohan Chinna as its candidate for the Amritsar Lok Sabha bypoll that takes place alongside the assembly polls on February 4. Chinna’s candidature was declared during the meeting of the party’s parliamentary board in Delhi. The meeting was presided over by party president Amit Shah and was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, among other senior party leaders.
Sardar Rajinder Mohan is the incumbent Director of the Punjab National Bank. He fought the 2007 assembly elections as party’s candidate from Amritsar (West). Chinna presently holds the Chairman post of Guru Nanak Dev University as well. He has also been the Chairman of the Amritsar Improvement Trust and has also served as the Vice-Chairman of the Punjab Small Scale Industries Export Corporation (PSSIEC). Besides, Rajinder Mohan Chinna has held various posts in the state party’s organizational setup including the vice-president of the State Executive”.
