Chandigarh, January 20, 2017: To prevent impersonation at the time of polling during the assembly elections in Punjab as well as the bye-poll to the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Mr. V.K. Singh has asked the voters to carry Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to establish their identity at the polling station before casting votes on February 04, 2017. Besides this the election staff has also been directed to distribute Authenticated Photo Voter Slips to the electors before the date of Poll.
Quoting the directions of the Election Commission of India, Mr. Singh has also directed that those electors not having EPIC could cast their votes if they have any of the alternative documents like Passport, Driving License, Service Identity Cards with Photograph issued to the employees by central/state governments/ PSUs or Public Limited Companies, Aadhar Card, Passbook with Photographs issued by the Banks/Post Office, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Pension documents with Photograph, Authenticated Voter Slip Issued by the Election Machinery or the Official Identity Cards issued to MPs, MLAs or MCs.
