Auckland, May 12,2017 : 23-year-old Gurpreet Kaur, an Indian national, was found dead at her workplace in Manurewa, a suburb of Auckland where her body was reportedly found by her employer around 5pm on May 11.
Gurpreet belongs to Balachaur town of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district (formerly Nawanshahr) in Punjab and worked as a computer operator in a private firm in Manurewa.
Police were called to the scene, but the mystery surrounding her death is yet to be determined. NZ Police spokesperson reportedly only said that they have “attended (to) a sudden death at an address in Manurewa on Thursday of a 23-year-old woman, and have referred the matter to the coroner”. Her body was sent for a post mortem pending investigation in the cause of her death.
The victim had migrated to New Zealand two years ago on a student visa and completed training at an Auckland tertiary institute. Currently she was on a job search visa.
Gurpreet was married in 2014 to Satwinder Singh (30) of the same town, and her husband reportedly moved to New Zealand only late last year. She was living here with her husband and mother-in-law who are both still in a state of shock..
Gurpreet’s two elder brothers, Gurjeet Singh and Surjit Singh, live in Balachaur while their father, Balbir Singh lives in Dubai.
It is also reported that her family back home is in a state of shock on hearing about her sudden death and Gurpreet had spoken to them just two days before her death.
