Nawanshahr, April 20, 2018 : Director food and civil supplies, Anindita Mitra said that a sum of Rs. 1885 crore had been released, in second phase to clear the dues of farmers who had sold their wheat during the current season. Henceforth, the payment would be made on a daily basis, she added
Director food supplies, who was here to review the procurement and lifting process, visited Nawanshahr and Balachaur grain markets. Taking the notice of unlifted wheat lying at Blachaur Mandi, she directed the concerned agencies to expedite lifting without any further delay. At Nawanshahr, she said that state has first time reduced the transport burden successfully as compared to last year by ensuring a transparent tendering process. Talkin about the grain storage arrangements, she added that state had ample space for storage besides direct delivery to FCI at some mandis.
She said that state had already procured one third of the total expected arrival by yesterday evening. In SBS Nagar district, out of total 42,000 MT, 36000 MT had been procured so far, she added. She also directed the secretaries, market committies to verify all the swipe cards of commission agents so that no body have to face the problem in future.
Others who were present on the occasion, included, ADC (g) Ranjit Kaur, SDM Nawanshahr Aditya Uppal, SDM Balachaur Jagjit Singh, DFSC Renu Bala Verma and representatives of procurement agencies, arhtiyas and farmers.
