Workers of District Congress protest against accused Akali MC Sidhu
They demanded his removal from religious body and expulsion from SAD

Workers of District Congress Committee under the leadership of Rajni Bala Vice President of District unit organized a protest rally at the fire brigade chowk Bathinda on Sunday to protest against the alleged role of MC Rajinder Sidhu in the suicide case of a dalit girl in the city. The protestors were demanding strict against the accused and also his removal from the president ship of a religious body.
Rajni Bala said “SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal should expel Rajinder Sidhu from the party and he (Sidhu) should resign from chairmanship of renowned religious body of the city”.
Congress leaders, Baldev Singh Akalia, Charanjit Singh Bhola, former Chairman of Niranjan Singh Bhola, Mahinder Singh Bhola, Tulsidas Achrewal, Balakaran Singh Ghuman, Om Prakash, Vipin Metu, Sita Sain, Nirmala, Ranjit Kaur, Jagjit Singh, Surinder Sidhu and Gaurav Kataria were also present on the occasion.
It may be recalled that Akali councillor from Ward No. 3 and Gurdwara Singh Sabha president Rajinder Singh Sidhu has been arrested on May 28 in an abetment to suicide case on the complaint of another SAD councillor Tarloch Singh, a relative of the deceased woman.
Bathinda SSP Naveen Singla ordered a probe by DSP Gurpreet Singh, who found the councillor “guilty”. He was arrested on May 28. The victim had allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at a park here on February 27. She was reportedly found three-month pregnant.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rajinder Singh Sidhu was the main complainant against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in 2007 when the latter dressed up as Guru Gobind Singh and a case was registered at Bathinda.
