Chandigarh, June 21, 2018: The Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) project in the holy city Amritsar is well on course with all the necessary infrastructure and ground work set to be completed by August 31, 2018, disclosed Local Government Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu in a press communiqué after a meeting convened here today to assess and review the progress of the project.
In this meeting the Finance Minister, Manpreet Singh Badal desired and requested that Navjot Singh Sidhu should lead a delegation of the local MLAs and the MP Amritsar for ground level inspection of the project on June 26, 2018 so as to have a first hand knowledge of how the things are taking shape pertaining to the project.
Claiming the project to be a milestone in the developmental annals of the state, Sidhu said that the local MLAs, Mayor Municipal Corporation, Amritsar and the Member of Parliament from the holy city were invited to review the progress of the project besides deliberating on how to go about removing the bottlenecks to roll out the project full throttle on September 1, 2018.
Sidhu said that a trial run would be conducted to see how much work with regard to the project is complete and it would be based on taking stock of the work at Bhandari Bridge, Bus Shelters, and the Interval of the buses which, in any case, must not be more than 5 minutes.
The minister said that the issues raised in today's meeting by the local MLAs and MP would be addressed at the ground level and the views aired by all stakeholders would be taken into account.
Those present included Finance Minister, Manpreet Singh Badal, Education Minister OP Soni, MP Amritsar Gurjit Singh Aujla, Mayor Municipal Corporation Amritsar Karamjit Singh, MLA Sunil Datti, Principal Secretary Local Government A. Venu Prasad, Principal Secretary Finance Anirudh Tiwari, Secretary PWD Hussan Lal, Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Amritsar Sonali Giri and others.
