Fatehgarh Sahib, October 12, 2018: The striking teaching and non teaching staff of Guru Granth Sahib World University (GGSWU) Fatehgarh Sahib, who were sitting on strike in protest against the non payment of their salaries from the last three months have withdrawn the strike and joined their duties as Darbara Singh Guru SAD(B) leader and Secretary of the University Trust told the striking faculty that their one month salary has been credited to their accounts and the remaining salary of the two months will be cleared by 25thof October.
The leaders of striking faculty after discussion decided to call off the strike and to resume the classes. They said that this is temporary arrangements and how the management of University will run its affairs without proper financial management.
The highly reliable sources told Babu Shahi.com that the management of the University had taken the loan worth Rs. 30 Crore and the monthly instalment is approximately Rs.50 Lakh and there are approximately 400 teaching and non-teaching staff for below three thousand students and their monthly salary bill is Rs.1.35 Crore, other expenses like electricity, maintenance, security contract etc. also have to pay in crores. They said unnecessary construction of buildings for petty personal interest by the then VC and management, over staffing and unwanted courses are the main reason for the financial mess. They said the management has made arrangement for three months salary how the university will survive in future the management and staff should sit together to find a permanent solution.
They said there are many courses in which there are less than 10 students having five faculty members. The politicians running SGPC have recruited their favourites in large number and they are getting salaries without any work.
