Amritsar, November 18, 2018: Condemning the attack on NIrankari Bhawan in village Adliwal near Rajasansi in the district of Amritsar, the BJP today said it was due to Amarinder government’s soft policy towards radicals.
Reacting on the Sunday attack which has claimed three lives and left about 20 injured, BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh said the attack has posed a fresh challenge to the law and order besides posing a threat to peace and harmony.
Condoling the deaths of four innocent persons, Chugh said the Union Government had provided inputs to the state government that 8-10 terrorists have sneaked in and they could wreak havoc if proper security arrangements were not ensured but the state government took the information lightly and didn’t do the needful resulting in today’s incident.
“The terror attack just 5-7 kilometers away from Amritsar International Airport has put a question mark on the security arrangements in this border district besides proving that the Congress government has failed to protect the lives of people. The government needs to pull up its socks so that such incidents are not repeated,” Chugh said.
The BJP leader said that two conspiracies to disturb the peace in Punjab were already bust by police of two states including Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh.
Chughg said,, the J&K Police shared important inputs that terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir were spreading their tentacles in Punjab after which the Punjab Police came into action and several terrorists were arrested.
“Besides that, the UP Police uncovered a plot to assassinate former Punjab Chief Minister PS Badal while Punjab Police had no information regarding that,” he said.
Chugh said the Congress needs political will and guts to face the challenge Punjab was facing today in the wake of increased terror movem ent and activity in the state.
