Fatehgarh Sahib, March 20,2019: Three persons were critically injured in a clash that ensued after the brutal slaughter of a stray bull allegedly by the family members of former Sarpanch Amandeep Kaur in village Sikandarpur in Bassi Pathana sub division.
Residents of the village led by Advocate Manvir Singh Dhindsa and his father Sukhdarshan Singh Dhindsa former member Planning Board objected to the senseless brutality on purely humanitarian ground terming it as a great sin, which led to heated arguments and ultimately the alleged killers of bull attacked the family members of the lawyer and injured father son and their servant by hitting on the heads. They were rushed to civil hospital Bassi Pathana and after first aid referred to civil hospital Fatehgarh Sahib.
While talking to media persons, the injured lawyer's brothers-in-law Gur Sahib Singh Sekhon and Gur Partap Singh Sekhon also practising HC lawyers said that their brother-in law advocate Manvir Singh Dhindsa is a practising lawyer at Ropar courts.
Today morning when he was about to leave for courts, the family members of former Sarpanch led by Satinder Singh son of former Sarpanch Amandeep Kaur her husband Hari Singh and three other persons attacked the family of lawyer with sharp edged weapons injuring three of them.
They said the cause of attack was that the lawyer and his family along with other villagers have strongly objected the merciless killing of stray bull by dragging it after tying with tractor last night. They demanded that the culprit should be booked under 307IPC and 285-A for hurting the religious sentiments and under brutality on animals Act.
Meanwhile Dinesh Chadha RTI activist from Ropar, Rajbir Grewal President District Bar Association Fatehgarh Sahib, leaders of various Hindu organisations and Gau Suraksha Sewa Sangh visited the hospital and expressed solidarity with the injured lawyer and appreciated his dare to object the brutal killing of bull. They demanded stern action against the culprits.
When contacted SSP Amneet Kondal, she said she has directed DSP Bassi Pathana to register the case, when contacted DSP Bassi Pathana, he said he has sent SHO Bassi Pathana to record the Statement and after that case will be registered. When contacted SHO Bassi Pathana, he said ASI has gone to hospital to record statement and after that FIR will be registered. All attempts to trace ASI proved futile and till filling of news no FIR was registered there was no one to tell under which section case has been registered against whom.
The police took the dead body of bull in custody which was dug in the fields.
